During the month of October we have been exploring pumpkins. Students were able to explore pumpkins through various language and mathematical activities. We discussed what pumpkins look like on the outside and on the inside. Through a hands-on experience students were able to see, smell and touch the inside of a pumpkin. As a class, we then made an anchor chart with the words describing what we saw and felt. During this pumpkin unit, students also explored pumpkins through a Pumpkin Investigation. In this activity, students were able to explore the size and shape of pumpkins. They measured pumpkins and counted how many seeds were inside. Students also explored with an I WONDER… question: Will the pumpkin sink or float?  Lastly we learned about what pumpkins need to grow and all about the pumpkin life cycle.
