The Inauguration Ceremony of our school Guiding Light Academy was held on Saturday September 20th, 2014.
There was a buzz of excitement all around the school as the children, staff and management planned for the big day.
The ceremony started at 11.00 am and the occasion was graced by our Local Counsellor Mr. George Carlson, our MPP Mrs. Lisa Macleod and Rev. Fr. Jose David.
The program started with the children singing Salve Regina which is a devotional song sung in honour and praise to Mother Mary.
Our students were trained to Compere the show, sing and welcome our guest.
Our tiny tots from Junior Kindergarten stole the show and won the hearts of our guests when they welcomed them with flowers and uttered the words “Welcome to Our School”
Fr. Jose David along with our Principal Mrs. Jackson cut the ribbon as a gesture to inaugurate our school.
After the programme there was a tour of the school and refreshments were served.
Our students did us proud as they did a wonderful job playing host.
Last but not the least, we were privileged to have the honour of Mayor McCallion visiting our school and sharing her views about the importance of quality education in today’s world.
We ended the programme by singing our national anthem Oh Canada in the presence of the Mayor and all our guests.
