Let The Games Begin!
On March 25th the call to begin our much anticipated sports competition commenced with a marvellous flag parade. A rousing rendition of “This is The Time of Our Lives” had the bearers proudly waving their flags in unison. Our opening ceremony included all our student from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 who were proud to demonstrate their love of sport and performance. Family and friends were invited to cheer on the participants and celebrate their dedication and teamwork.
GLA Games 2017 provided a fantastic opportunity for our students to display their athletic prowess and reap the rewards for all the practice they put in through the year. A competitive soccer match showcased some nifty footwork and stamina. This was followed by a thrilling Monkeynastix demonstration. The concluding performance was a heartfelt rendition of the song “You Raise Me Up” by our choir of primary students. The lyrics were a fitting choice as it reflected the love and appreciation all GLA students have for their coaches, parents and teachers.
We ended celebrations with a special awards ceremony where the students were given medals and certificates in recognition of all their hard work. GLA Games 2017 proved to exude the admirable traits of endeavour and initiative that every student at Guiding Light Academy proudly own.
