At Guiding Light Academy we take great care in what we put into the education of our students. As a school, Dental Health is of great importance, so we wanted to share with the students what it takes to properly look after our teeth. In Ms. Nunez’s kindergarten class we demonstrated how stains occur on our teeth and how they could be cleaned. For this experiment, we used white eggs, a bottle of pop and a toothbrush.
We placed the white eggs into a container filled with Pop and with a little patience the students were able to see the white eggs change colour. This demonstration allowed the students to physically see what too much sugar can do to clean white teeth. After this the students were able to brush the eggs with a toothbrush and hence remove the stain from the drink. This exercise allowed the children to witness what daily brushing can do to enhance dental health.
