Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See?

This week the Kindergarten class has been exploring colours. Students have been introduced to primary and secondary colours. While painting using primary colours on the class colour wheel, students discovered 3 other colours were missing. Questions arose: “what other colours go in the empty spaces?” To find the answer students experimented colour mixing using food colouring and water. They mixed primary colours on paper towels to create their own colour wheel. Listening to all the “ooohhs and wows” showed how excited they were to be “magicians” in creating ‘new’ (secondary) colours. As a culminating task students created their own mini colour books based on the story of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See? By: Eric Carle
